Where It All Began
My hunting journey started when I was just five, following Dad through the wetlands every duck opening weekend. Those early years chasing ducks and rabbits weren’t just childhood memories - without knowing it, they laid the foundation for the lifelong passion that would eventually become MHA.
Twelve years later, I bought my first centrefire rifle-a .308-and began travelling to NSW with mates, hunting pigs and goats. But by the time I turned 19, I had found my true obsession: Sambar deer, right here in Victoria. After weeks of persistence, I harvested my first Sambar hind, and from that moment on, I was hooked for good.

My passion for hunting grew into something much bigger than my own time in the bush. The real turning point came when I started taking others out and saw the pride and pure joy they felt the moment they achieved their hunting goals. Whether it’s someone chasing their first Sambar stag, harvesting a hind, or simply filling the freezer, that moment when the animal drops and they turn around smiling- that’s why I do what I do.
Magnum Hunting Australia was created to share that feeling. To open up the best of Australia’s wild places, wildlife and hunting traditions to people across the country and around the world through professional, ethical, unforgettable guided hunts.
Fast-forward 15 years...
My wife Holli and I moved up into the Victorian High Country; a move driven by our love for the outdoors and the quieter, simpler lifestyle that suits our family. Over the years, Holli has also developed her own appreciation for hunting- understanding the effort, patience, and respect involved in the entire process. It’s become something we enjoy sharing together, especially with our two kids growing up surrounded by nature.
